This time it was the rain that tried to get in their way. But that didn't dampen the true youth spirit and the youth flame continued to burn as brightly as ever.
As usual our friends from YAFI was out there leading the young people in celebration of the country's Independence Day.
YAFI has always been an avenue for young people to come together and voice their opinions. The youth is always stronger when they know they are being heard and they have support. Only then can they have the courage to step out and make a difference.
And YAFI has always worked together with provincial councils and has always received help from the govenment of the day.
And can you believe that we are already 41 years old!?
The young people raised the Fiji flag at a crowded Subrail Park Ground Two in Labasa where there was singing of the national anthem as well as the traditional dances to commemorate the special day.
This celebration was part of the Queen Esther mini festival that encourages youths of all races and cultures to unite.
The Northern Coordinator TJ Loloma had much to say about the enthusiasm of the young people.
This celebration is relevant for youths because it is the best avenue to call upon all youths to break all barriers of culture, race, religion and ethnical differences. This celebration also enabled youths to come out of their comfort cultures and explore their untapped potential. This initiative will also help mold young people to become active contributors towards the national communityThe youth of Fiji has always tried to show the country that they have so much potential and they are not afraid to reach their full capacity.
This type of events are just typical work for youths, they are always taking the initiative and teying out new things, always to get results.
Everyone knows that youths are the future and they are the strongest force out there.
We are the source. Source of ideas. Put out that source and you have nothing but a blank piece of paper with boring writing all over it.
Youths bring in color. We bring in life.
We think in a different way and we never give up.
So here's to the hardworking youth who braved the rain to celebrate not only out Independence Day but also the unity we have with the diversity of cultures.
Keep up the good work and continue to shine your light of inspiration so that we have a better, brighter future.
